The inspiring true story of Dr. Jeff Huxford’s miraculous survival of a traumatic brain injury and the strength he drew from his family and faith to define their journey on the road to their new normal.

Dr. Jeff Huxford and his family are living the American dream. Jeff and his wife, Jacqui, their kids, Jayse and Jenna, along with his medical practice are all thriving. He's an energetic, quick-witted young doctor beloved by his patients, friends and neighbors. While running an errand on May 3, 2012, everything changed when a truck appeared out of nowhere and slammed into his car. He survives the crash but suffers a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

The miracle of survival quickly gives way to a bleak, and very slim chance that Jeff or his family will return to any semblance of "normal.” Jeff's physician, Dr. Evans, tries to keep Jeff and his family hopeful while being honest about the challenging, long-term prognosis. Jacqui is now facing an enormous challenge, how to help her husband face his new reality as she faces her own. As weeks pass, Jeff’s regression is ruled by raw emotions. When Dr. Evans recommends putting Jeff in a long-term care facility, a resilience and deep faith in God leads Jacqui to take Jeff home instead. Wrestling with their new reality, the Huxford family began to draw strength from untapped depths of courage and a deep rooted faith.

As Jeff keeps fighting to find his way back, he realizes that, while we may impress people with our strengths, we truly connect with people through our weaknesses. Jeff recovers enough to take the neuropsych test required to be a doctor again under limited supervision. Once again life-altering news comes when Jeff learns his brain is slowly shrinking, forcing him to walk away from his practice entirely. Through grit, resilience, grace and faith in God a "new normal'' is birthed. It’s a reality more real, more beautiful and more complete than anything they’ve ever experienced before.
